Devlog #2 (ENG)


Hey everyone! Here’s a recap of what I’ve been working on this week. While it started a bit slow, there’s been some exciting progress with new mechanics, game modes, and card sets.

Saturday, Nov 30th – Monday, Dec 2nd

I spent these days working on two commissions, so there wasn’t much progress on the game itself. Gotta keep the lights on, right?

Tuesday, Dec 3rd

Back to it! I designed Princess Cadance and Zecora’s set, introducing some new mechanics and keywords:

Keyword:

In Love: Creatures “In Love” deal no damage to the creature they fall in love with. If they take damage from that creature, the effect is removed.

It’s a mechanic that I believe fits Cadance’s theme of love while adding a unique twist to gameplay

Zecora: Zecora now brings potion crafting into the game! When you play an ingredient while she’s on the field, you create a “Flask.” Flasks can hold up to 3 ingredient effects. When you use the Flask, you cast all the stored effects with their intended targets.

I’m really excited about how this will add some creativity and unpredictability to the game.

Wednesday, Dec 4th

This was a really productive day! I designed Dragon Lord Ember’s set along with some game modes and unique mechanics:

Dragon Eggs: Dragon Lord Ember allows you to create and raise dragon eggs. Once hatched, they’ll spawn a random dragon from a specific pool based on the type of egg. This adds a fun, thematic way to build your strategy around dragons.

Game Modes:  I’ve added a bunch of modes to keep things fresh, whether you’re playing solo, casually, or competitively:

  • Normal (PvP): Classic 1v1 with your custom decks.
  • Wonderbolts Ranks (PvP): 1v1 with a ranking system and divisions. 
  • RaD (Random Deck) (PvP): 1v1 where decks are chosen randomly from at least 5 you’ve built. 
  • Pinkie Pie’s Sugar Rush (PvP): Chaos mode! All cards cost half, cores have 100 health, spells do double damage, and players get random powers each round. 
  • Equestria’s History (PvE): Play through iconic MLP story moments with pre-chosen decks. 
  • Equestrian Quest (PvE): Pick a Legendary Pony, embark on a quest, acquire unique powers, and build your deck as you progress. 
  • School of Friendship (PvAI): Practice against AI opponents with different difficulty levels. 
  • Everfree Adventures (PvP): Build a deck in 30 seconds with random restrictions and powers.

Thursday, Dec 5th

I kept the momentum going by creating even more powers for the game modes (Available on the Excel Sheet). I also designed the Cutie Mark Crusaders Set! The CMC focuses on fillies and recruiting new members. Remember the Cutie Mark Crusaders is exclusive to fillies! No adults allowed

Friday, Dec 6th

Nothing done today, and for good reason—I’m officially on vacation! I’ll be back to working on the game on Monday the 16th. Until then, I’m going to recharge, enjoy the break, and come back ready to dive back in.
